OSI Oxford announced a winner at the Oxfordshire Property Awards

It’s time to celebrate! Team Modus and Bidwells reunited virtually on the 15th of September to receive the award for Best Interior (Cool and Funky space) at the recent Oxfordshire Property Awards ceremony, live streamed from Bicester Motion.

Together with Sam Potts, Partner in building surveying, we picked up the best interior award for OSI’s 2,000 sqm open-plan hub, which was a space designed for start-ups to incubate, collaborate and innovate and described by judges as “Oxford’s latest and definitely funkiest workspace”.

Matthew Short, Director at Modus Workspace commented:

“Grassroots is the third project we have carried out for OSI, and is by far the most ambitious in it’s breadth and scope. We worked closely with the professional team at Keble College to establish the building parameters for the OSI spaces before the building had been constructed. This ensured we could have the flexibility to adapt the space in future as the needs of the incubators change and develop.

We took our design inspiration from the raw concrete finishes in the lower floors, maximising the light and making a virtue of the myriad of services running from the student accommodation above. The spaces combine acoustically secure rooms of varying sizes with generous communal areas and breakout spaces for more relaxed working and downtime. Attention to detail was key in ensuring the space feels both cosseting and expansive with architectural acoustic panels ensuring the base materials do not overwhelm the rooms.

We are extremely pleased - and very proud - with the end result and are very appreciative of the trust OSI put in us to conceive and develop such a groundbreaking and visually stunning environment in which Grassroots can flourish.”

The UK Property Forum runs the Oxfordshire Property Awards annually and this year the Awards were hosted by the CEO of Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s (OXLEP) Nigel Tipple and Jayne Norris, Director at Edgars Planning. We feel privileged to be up against some of the best and biggest names in the business.

Our office has grown in size and stature in recent years and has really pulled together during the Covid crisis so we will all enjoy this one - just not all in the same room!”
