We’re thrilled to announce that our refurbishment of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Birmingham has been shortlisted for the IWFM Impact Awards 2023 in the ‘Positive Climate Action: Large Organisation’ category!

The IWFM Impact Awards are the gold standard in workplace and facilities management, celebrating excellence and innovation across the industry.

This recognition comes as the workplace and facilities management industry steps up in the race to meet carbon reduction targets, especially following the government’s commitments made after the COP 26 conference. Buildings are major contributors to carbon emissions, and our work at RICS Birmingham shows how thoughtful design can make a real difference. The project focused on transforming the fifth-floor members’ area to support remote working, all while minimising carbon impact and maximising sustainability. This refurbishment demonstrated RICS’ commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles by placing waste reduction, reuse of materials, and responsible procurement at the project’s core.

We prioritised waste reduction, reuse of materials, and responsible procurement throughout the refurbishment. By repurposing existing fixtures, furniture, and equipment, we significantly reduced embodied carbon emissions. The new space promotes well-being, with reused elements like meeting booths and quiet pods, a neutral colour palette, and indoor plants.

We look forward to the Awards Ceremony on 16 October 2023 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London!
