Modus wins ESG Award at the BCO Awards 2025

Awards 10th May, 2025
The vibrant bar area at Nomad Foods, featuring hanging greenery and globe lights, is a standout space designed by Modus Workspace to create a dynamic and refreshing atmosphere.

On Thursday, 1st May, our project for Nomad Foods won the ESG Award in the South of England & South Wales region at the BCO Awards 2025.

This is a particularly special award. Unlike other categories, the ESG Award is selected by the regional judges from across all shortlisted schemes. It recognises a project that demonstrates game-changing influence in environmental performance, social value, governance, or sustainable outcomes in the commercial building sector.

To be chosen by the judges for this award is a huge honour and a proud moment for the team behind the project.

The new Nomad Foods HQ puts BCO’s ESG ambition into action. The project took a layered approach to reuse, avoiding landfill at every step:

  • 475 items repurposed for use in the new office
  • 209 items sold, raising £1,614 for Grocery Aid
  • 49 items donated to charities connected to employees
  • 76 items donated to 17 local schools via the Xavier Education Trust
  • 12 items transferred to another Nomad office

This is a scheme driven by purpose. From lighting made of food waste to carpets woven from recycled fishing nets, the design reflects the company’s commitment to closing the loop in their own supply chain. A range of inclusive spaces, including a Tranquillity Room, Multi-Faith Room, Urban Salad Wall, and a workplace wellbeing programme, including free yoga, were integrated into the fit out to support an inclusive and people-first workplace.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought this scheme to life, and congratulations to the other winners! We’ll be joining the other regional winners at the National Awards Dinner in October, where the National ESG Award 2025 will be announced.
