SLG, a design-led international beauty brand, wanted to create a workspace that reflected their adventurous spirit while enhancing employee experience and creativity. Our Creative Director embraced the brief, delivering an exceptional, employee-centric workspace.
Project in brief:
- Transformed a 30,000 sq. ft. concrete shell in Cheltenham into Studio 19, an inspiring workspace that reflecting SLG’s brand.
- Incorporated bold, unexpected elements like an orange glass box meeting room, a skateboard-friendly freeway, and bleacher seating.
- Combined raw, industrial finishes with soft, tactile elements to create an innovative, multi-functional environment.
Bold design reflecting SLG’s identity
SLG’s vision for Studio 19 was ambitious, aiming to create a workplace that reflected the brand’s adventurous spirit. Collaborating closely with SLG’s CEO Miles Dunkley the design included bold features, such as an orange glass box meeting room and a red shipping container shop. These features created a seamless blend of creative and practical workspaces, making Studio 19 a standout example of contemporary office design.
Engaging and innovative workspaces
Studio 19 incorporated unexpected, engaging features, such as a skateboard-friendly freeway and bleacher seating. The design balanced raw materials like concrete and steel with softer elements, including biophilic walls, soft furnishings, and feature lighting, to create distinct zones for different styles of work. A lab and workshop were incorporated into the space facilitating instant transitions from creative brainstorming to hands-on experimentation. This multi-functional design has been instrumental in enhancing SLG’s work culture and driving employee satisfaction.
