Kenvue

We partnered with Kenvue – an American consumer health company and owner of household brands such as Aveeno, Band-Aid and Benadryl, to deliver their new workspace at One Station Hill in Reading. Occupying floors nine and ten, the project transformed an open shell space into a connected, people-focused environment designed to support collaboration, flexibility and wellbeing. Linked by a striking feature staircase, the workplace reflects Kenvue’s commitment to sustainability while creating a modern setting that showcases the company’s portfolio and culture.

A Connected Workplace

Designed as a new home for Kenvue’s growing team, the workplace was conceived around flexibility and interaction. The two-floor layout was carefully zoned to encourage movement between departments while creating opportunities for spontaneous collaboration. A feature staircase became the focal point of the design, physically and visually connecting the two levels and reinforcing a sense of community across the workplace.

The design palette was intentionally restrained, using muted tones, natural textures and soft finishes throughout. Creams, beiges and sage accents create a calm and welcoming atmosphere, while feature lighting and bespoke joinery elements bring character to key spaces including the reception area and shared collaboration zones. Areas displaying Kenvue’s products were integrated into the design, allowing the workplace to reflect the company’s identity without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.

Designed Around People

Employee experience was central to the project. A diverse mix of settings was created to support different working styles, including open-plan workstations, touchdown areas, collaborative tables, private booths and glazed meeting pods. These spaces allow employees to focus, connect and collaborate depending on the task at hand, reducing reliance on traditional desk-based working.

Biophilic design played an important role throughout the scheme, with extensive planting used to soften the environment and enhance wellbeing. Access to natural light was prioritised across both floors, creating bright and comfortable spaces for employees and visitors alike. Acoustic considerations were also incorporated through the use of specialist panels and enclosed focus areas, helping to balance openness with privacy.

Sustainable Considerations

Sustainability was a key driver throughout the project and influenced both material selection and design decisions. The team worked closely with Kenvue through workshops and regular project meetings to identify finishes and products that aligned with the organisation’s environmental objectives. Energy-efficient lighting solutions and carefully selected materials contributed to a workplace that supports both operational performance and long-term sustainability goals.

To ensure these ambitions translated into measurable outcomes, Modus used life cycle assessment tools QFlow and OneClick LCA to calculate and reduce embodied carbon, guiding material choices that balanced design and sustainability. This informed specification decisions such as Shaw Contract’s New Path Positive carpet tile, which uses Shaw’s EcoWorx® closed-loop backing system and holds Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver accreditation, supporting circular economy principles throughout the space.

This rigorous, data-led approach contributed to the project’s BREEAM Excellent and WELL Platinum certifications, reflecting the exceptional standard of environmental and wellbeing performance achieved.

Despite a challenging programme and evolving client requirements throughout the build process, close collaboration between all stakeholders ensured the successful delivery of the project. The result is a flexible, future-focused workplace that supports Kenvue’s continued growth.
